Rotonium

Rotonium is an Italian deep-tech company developing miniaturized, room-temperature photonic quantum processors designed to bring quantum acceleration closer to real-world deployment.

The company follows an edge-first approach to quantum computing. While most quantum systems rely on large, infrastructure-intensive environments, Rotonium is developing compact and modular quantum processing units that can be integrated into existing computing architectures and deployed in space-, weight- and power-constrained systems.

Its technology is based on integrated photonics and the orbital angular momentum of light, with a development roadmap progressing from desktop quantum processors to PCIe accelerators and highly integrated modules. Rotonium’s objective is to complement classical computing by accelerating selected computationally intensive tasks directly where data is generated and decisions must be made.

The initial target markets include defence, space, research and advanced industrial applications, where resilience, autonomy, low latency and reduced dependence on cloud infrastructure are increasingly important.

Rotonium combines expertise in quantum physics, photonics, semiconductor technologies, algorithms and the creation and international growth of high-tech companies. The company is preparing its Series A round to accelerate hardware development, industrialization, product validation and early market deployment.
